Weave Mechanics is a facility for predicting the mechanical properties of fabrics. Current availability is for uniaxial and biaxial stress-strain relations of plain weave fabrics. Core research in the University of Manchester, as part of TechniTex Faraday Partnership, will provide more general programs covering fabrics of other weaves and other mechanical properties, such as bending and shear.
The fabric specification can be entered directly or through Weave GeoModleller. Yarn database provides yarn break loads, break extensions, polynomials for the shape of the yarn stress-strain curves, and values for resistance to bending and flattening.
Weave Mechanics is not available as a demonstration option. Those interested in its use should contact TexEng Software Ltd for advice on its applicability to their problems. |
